"GOOD RIDDANCE TO BAD RUBBISH"

The eulogy had been written and it seemed like the grieving had subsided and the healing begun when Johnny Chisholm announced that he was returning to Gay Days after his disastrous 2009. "How could he?", many asked themselves. Not just from an ethical standpoint, but from a legal one. On the same day that his million dollar One Mighty Weekend bankruptcy was finalized, he (under the suspicious smoke of friends and allies) announced that he was doing 2010 pool parties at the Buena Vista Palace. The "Reunion" name was one that was not involved in the court system and somehow still managed to potentially have "some money of the table" for Chisholm to pick up.

Immediately the website TheCircutDog.com sent up the warning signals again. The owner Tony Hayden was 100% accurate in calling the Chisholm debacle for the past two years and as soon Reunion 2010 was announced he advised his readers that the summer pool parties may not happen. "This is one Reunion you might want to miss" Hayden warned. "Chsholm has only been given the Disney property with a certain period of limited reservations. If he doesn't have a contractual amount by a given date, Lake Buena Vista Palace will bail on him"

"Is he, or isn't he?" is what the Central Florida Gay and Lesbian newspaper Watermark asked. The article brought to light Johnny Chisholm's secret silent role in the new Gay Days event. "The “One Mighty” name suggests Chisholm’s involvement, but that was otherwise not apparent online." the article writes. "Already, there is speculation that the omission of Chisholm’s name from the Reunion web site, company registration and marketing materials is designed to distance Chisholm from the weekend event in light of his problems the previous year, lawsuits and recent bankruptcy." And my favorite part of the article is when they quote Hayden with the single word that sums up Chisholm's way of doing business... "dubious".

The final knock-out punch came from the website "Forest Moon Endor" which literally holds a reader's hand and walks them step by step through the legal understandings of the One Mighty Weekend collapse. "The Decline and Fall of the Chisholm Empire Part 2" is maybe the most fascinating 52 pages that you'll ever read. From exhibit A. to exhibit Z., it's a wonder that Chisholm isn't in prison along with his promotional partner JustCircuit.com. It's a juicy disgusting read that just might have finally done Chisholm in.

According to Buena Vista Palace insiders, on April 20th after missing two other hotel deadlines, the Palace flexed their right to cancel the events due to Chisholm not filling his quota. Period! That's what happened. However in true "spin" form, Chisholm's girlfriends at JustCircuit.com sent out a news bulletin in attempt to clean up what really happened. "Despite reportedly having a sizable number of hotel bookings at the Buena Vista Palace for Reunion, the typical sold-out status was not a guarantee." the website reported. They also regurgitated their repetitive deflective mantra, "Also sited as a reason for the hiatus is continued "speculation, pessimism and outright hatred by some in our own community " towards the organization. The actions by bloggers associated with other Gay Day weekend events continue to damage the success of the overall weekend." JustCircuit also is leading their reader to believe that Chisholm is just" taking a break this year and plans to return in 2011.

So, we've gone full circle. Like a bad dream the Gay Days weekend had something called the Chisholm years. Squeezed out and fed-up with Johnny Chisholm's antics, Mark Baker sold his events to Chisholm five years ago and in a very short time the Louisiana Chicken farmer destroyed the memorable events. Now Mark Baker returns to restore the weekend to greatness. Yes, this is a fitting eulogy. "Where one man destroys another builds" R.I.P. One Mighty Weekend and as Tony Hayden immediately put on his Facebook page after hearing the news of Chisholm's withdraw.. "Good riddance to bad rubbish".

WHITE JOURNEY AT SCORE

Thursday night!!! White Party Miami 2009 begins as Wire Magazine catches White Journey at Score for opening night of White Party. The signature kick-off event in Miami, the White Journey event debuts a week of festivities at Score Bar on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. DJ Oscar Velazquez, direct from Mexico spinning in the main room. Plus, South Florida's favorite DJ Pride took control of the upstairs Creme Lounge. This party was flled with Miami's finest and a favorite night of locals and visitors alike.

Not much info listed, however it could be from Ibiza 2004. Definitely straight, possibly mixed, however INCREDIBLE SPACE, ENERGY and it sparks my desire that we all can get back to when this was obtainable and somewhat standard in the Gay Circuit Party World. Mark Baker and Black and Blue are the only ones who have ever brought this level to the continentalNorth America. ENJOY!

JOHNNY'S NEW PLAN

Could it be that the former Gay Days promoter, One Mighty Weekend down-ship captain and "Sir Owe Alot" has adopted a "cremated globe" approach to the first weekend of June Gay holiday? Johnny has been tirelessly searching the "party-world and clubland" in hopes of finding someone to get in bed with. Seems that he's clinging to the notion of selling off some contract that will remove ALL parties from the Gay Days Orlando landscape. If he can't have it, then NO ONE WILL.

What this would actually mean, is every vendor, contract and circuit industry victim of the Chisholm way of doing business is about to be screwed out of even MORE money. If there was ever a reason that they could recoup their losses with a much needed "successful year", JC is working behind the scenes to nuke the weekend off of the party map.

Well I'm speechless this morning. This is all information that lived in my head and I've followed as much as possible on THECIRCUITDOG.com, but this morning I'm outraged and my heart breaks for the victims involved. WHY ISN'T THIS FRONT PAGE NEWS on the gay blogs or gay rags? Oh, because it's a "circuit party" and THOSE people DESERVE to be ripped off. Shame on the general view that I KNOW many share. One Mighty Weekend was never really the same once Johnny Chisholm had taken over. He ran on reputation for a while, but it was quite obvious (as Tony Hayden once said..) "He's a two-bit saloon owner pretending to do world class entertainment". God I love that! I stole this graphic this morning from TCD. One Mighty Weekend says goodbye to Disney Chisholm event moved out of park; Gay Days to continue

More than 150,000 people from all over the world are expected to converge on Mickey’s turf during the 19th year of Gay Days at Disney World in Orlando, held this year from June 2-9, according to GayDays.com Vice President Chris Alexander-Manley. The event is billed as the largest GLBT event in Florida.

Because of the large influx of GLBT visitors to the area, many outside promoters lure partiers by producing their own events, most notably “circuit party”-style nightclub gatherings featuring big name DJs and performers. The largest and longest running of these events is “One Mighty Weekend,” produced by Johnny Chisholm, which have traditionally occurred inside the park as well.

In an unexpected snag with this year’s Gay Days celebration, however, Chisholm’s events scheduled for Disney World theme parks were suddenly moved off property.The “Beach Ball,” held on Friday, scheduled to occur at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, will be at the Buena Vista Palace hotel’s convention center’s pool area. The Saturday “One Mighty Party,” formerly had at the Disney Studio theme park, was moved to the Gaylord Palms Resort convention center. The Sunday evening “All Stars Deep Blue World” dance party was relocated from Universal Studios, where it was held last year, also to the ballroom of the Buena Vista Palace hotel.

Conflicting reports have surfaced regarding the sudden shift away from the theme parks, which had hosted the parties for most of the past 16 years.Tony Hayden, founder of TheCircuitDog.com and self-proclaimed “watchdog” of the circuit scene, said that Chisholm is not allowed to throw his parties at Disney this year after failing to come up with the necessary cash to make a deposit to hold the venue.“His parties are insulting to the original reputation of the people who founded the circuit parties so many years ago,” Hayden said. “He got all the pieces to the puzzle and within five years completely desecrated the entire franchise.”

Hayden said this is not the first year that Chisholm has encountered problems with Disney.In a letter addressed to Chisholm from 2004 that Hayden provided to South Florida Blade, a Disney employee tells the party promoter that payments from the previous year were not paid on time and, “in addition you seem to be under some misimpression that you have some special or preemptive right to conduct an event at Walt Disney World Resort. We do not have any commitment to contract with you (or Chisholm properties) for the One Mighty Party or for any other event.”Hayden has also reported on his website about Chisholm’s previous problems with investors, include a $2.8 million lawsuit against him for an event in Paris.

Victor Mauro, owner of http://www.justcircuit.com/, which is a sponsor of One Might Weekend, gave a different story: he said that Disney tried to charge Chisholm additional fees this year that he said were unjustified given the amount of money the theme park has made off the GLBT community over the last two decades.“For all the money that is spent during the Gay Day’s week, Disney has not once given back to the community,” he said.

A spokesperson for Disney, Kim Prunty, declined to comment on negotiations with Chisholm. Gay Days at Disney World will continue as planned, however, with more than 100 official and un-official events.Gay Days has not been officially endorsed by Disney, but Alexander-Manley said this is the first year in his organizations history that an attraction has come on as a sponsor of the “Days,” with Blue Man Group and Discovery Cove officially endorsing the event.Those who come to town are asked keep tradition alive by spending the first Saturday at the Magic Kingdom wearing, “something red to be seen.”

In a press release, Chisholm announced that he has reversed his normal “no refund” policy and will offer refunds to individuals who purchased tickets for the original event. Phone calls to Chisholm’s office in Pensacola, his marketing company SPI in New York and Walt Disney were not returned before press time.
